The Role
The Project Engineer role is expected participate in all aspects of the asset creation process, beginning at an early stage (front end loading or FEL) and following through to commissioning/start up and project closure/lessons learned.
They will be engaged in a variety of project types, such as new buildings/infrastructure, process manufacturing capacity expansions, new product introductions (NPI), and initiatives for EH&S/regulatory compliance, debottlenecking, and reliability improvements.

Job DescriptionKey responsibilities for this role include:
- Drives project progress while maintaining close communication with Business Managers, Engineering support teams, IT, EH&S, Accounting, Sourcing, Logistics, Quality, Operations and Maintenance. Assures team communications with and between a wide variety of internal and external technical disciplines (civil/structural, electrical/instrument, programmers, mechanical, chemical/process, IT, lab, etc.).
- Participates in project meetings and reviews (both formal and informal), scope development, hazard reviews, design reviews, planning, commissioning, etc.
- Contributes to asset creation process by developing the required documentation including, but not limited to: project scopes, definition drawings (P&IDs, general arrangements, electrical single lines, etc.), hazard review reports, permit requests, critical path schedules/resource plans, detailed cost estimates, cost control/forecasting, device tracking lists, funding requests (AFE), device specifications, engineering/construction contracts, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, commissioning plans, and lessons learned reports.
- Will have ownership for cross-functional projects and key project objectives as assigned by Project Engineering Management (process safety improvements, avoidance of EH&S issues/incidents, regulatory/permit compliance, capital spending cost control/budget, critical path schedule compliance/resource management, and operability/hassle free commissioning).
- Participates in site capital processes and budget including but not limited to: KPI tracking, capital spending and forecasting, regular reporting/communication of project status and updates, and driving all site projects to completion.
- Supports contract partner relationships for each project.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- BS degree in Chemical (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 - 5 years of experience in the chemical process, semiconductor, food, or pharmaceutical industry plus background in plant or process engineering, process safety management, separation processes and project management.
- Strong skillset in understanding and creating P&ID’s and isometrics. Interpret design curves of field machinery and function testing / validation of field equipment.
- Demonstrated experience in developing process parameters including mass flow, heat transfer, material balance capacities and rates.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with mechanical, structural, controls and electrical engineers.
- Ability to manage the PSM processes, especially management of change, pre-startup safety reviews and process hazard analysis.
- General understanding of API, ANSI, and NFPA.
- Ability to persuade others to change existing practices.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems.
- Excellent analytical and math skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

PAY RANGE: The pay range for this role is estimated at $100,000/yr. - $115,000/yr. with actual wage based on candidate’s qualifications and experience.
