Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineering Manager to lead a vibrant and collaborative team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on electric transmission solutions. In this pivotal role, you will oversee engineering design projects for both overhead and underground transmission systems, collaborating with some of the largest utilities in the nation as well as regional entities. You will apply relevant standards including NESC, ASCE, ACI, and NEC in the development of a variety of capital and maintenance projects from 34.5 kV to 500 kV.

Your responsibilities will also include directing a team of engineers handling engineering analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, design of structure framing and hardware assemblies, drafting plans and specifications, and preparing bills of materials and procurement documents throughout project phases, including planning, engineering, environmental, permitting, and construction management.

This is a senior leadership position where you will be responsible for client relations, staff oversight, proposal development, project execution, and capturing new business for the entirety of your team’s work portfolio. Work Location: 100% REMOTE (must reside within the U.S., Mountain time zone is preferred).

Job Functions

• Manage multiple design teams simultaneously working on various projects and programs for diverse clients.
• Foster the growth of engineering talent within your team through training and mentorship.
• Oversee staff operations, including approving timesheets and conducting performance review processes.
• Actively contribute as a member of the Transmission Line Section leadership team.
• Generate responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs for new business, ensuring precise proposal creation and clear definitions of scope of work.
• Encourage creative problem-solving to address complex client challenges.
• Promote continuous improvement practices to enhance processes and tools, driving innovations and automation in technical resources.
• Assign tasks to team members, project future workloads, and partake in recruitment to meet growth objectives.
• Ensure the quality control process is upheld by the execution team for all deliverables.
• Build strong client relationships to enhance business development efforts and promote long-term engagement.
• Maintain oversight of project portfolios, effectively tracking scope, schedules, and budgets with assistance from the Leidos Project Management Office.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in electric utility transmission system design; or 6+ years with a Master's degree.
• Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Effective team player with the ability to work independently as needed.
• Proven track record in communication, serving as primary contact for clients.
• Strong business acumen and understanding of key project performance metrics.
• Onsite work in Leidos or client offices may be required occasionally; some travel may also be expected.
• A passion for developing staff through mentoring and leadership.

Desired Experience:

• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• Experience with TOWER software.
• EIT or PE certification preferred.
• Familiarity with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are a plus.

Pay Range: $89,700.00 - $162,150.00

This pay range serves as a guideline and is not a salary guarantee. Factors influencing compensation include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
