Purpose:

Administers nursing care for and treats patients in endoscopy unit as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, supervising Clinical Coordinator or Clinical Director by performing the following duties

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
  • Utilizes nursing process effectively in assessing patient needs and planning appropriate follow- up/intervention
  • Documents assessment and interventions thoroughly and concisely
  • Uses computer system efficiently and accurately
  • Provides patient/staff education
  • Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy suite, with attention to the requirements specific to the outpatient setting
  • Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical team
  • Supervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy room
  • Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting
  • Transports patients to the endoscopy room observing policy and procedure, safety requirements and patient needs
Other Duties:
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • North Carolina or Compact RN license
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • BLS/CPR Certification
  • ACLS Certification
Preferred:
  • Endoscopy experience
  • Ambulatory surgery center experience
  • IV Conscious Sedation training
