Schedule Details:
This full-time position requires evening shifts, with options for 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday to Friday. Expect on-call duties primarily overnight, with some weekend coverage in an 8-week schedule. You will need to arrive within 30 minutes when on call.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient operating room, employing aseptic techniques during surgical preparation.
- Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment; assist the surgical team with their needs.
- Maintain the environmental standards of the operating room through setup and clean-up after procedures.
- Support the surgical team as a Second Assistant when needed.
- Monitor and report equipment or supply issues promptly.
- Transport patients and assist with positioning following proper techniques.
- Maintain the specialty cart and verify the operational readiness of surgical instruments.
- Demonstrate understanding of patient age-specific needs and provide appropriate care.
Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment is essential
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer proficiency
Physical Requirements:
This role demands strong physical capability and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You must:
- Lift and carry various weights as outlined in the job description
- Occasionally push/pull and perform sliding transfers
- Be exposed to chemical and biological hazards
- Have functional sight and hearing
- Wear personal protective equipment, including masks and gloves, as required
