The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute is committed to providing our cancer patients with outstanding care through a coordinated system of services. Our skilled team includes talented caregivers and physicians, utilizing the latest technology in a supportive environment.

As an Oncology Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering patient care in a busy medical oncology office and infusion center. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct patient care, including:
    • Taking vital signs
    • Allergy and medication reconciliation
    • Conducting health screenings
    • Gathering patient medical history
    • Supporting health maintenance initiatives
    • Facilitating advance directives and virtual health services
  • Performing indirect patient care tasks such as:
    • Scheduling appointments
    • Managing work queues and check-in/check-out processes
    • Handling referrals and in-basket communications
    • Preparing charts and conducting non-clinical patient result callbacks
    • Assisting with prior authorizations and transportation facilitation
  • Conducting point-of-care testing, including:
    • EKGs
    • Hemoglobin A1C
    • Urinalysis
    • Hemoglobin POCT
    • Urine toxicity
    • INR

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic Certification, or relevant experience.
  • Experience: At least one year of direct patient care experience in an acute or ambulatory setting is acceptable in lieu of the educational requirement.
