System Administrator II

The System Administrator II is a top-tier, results-driven IT professional responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, health, and maintenance of server systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role is entrusted with end-to-end ownership of critical infrastructure technologies, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)
- Lead administration and optimization of enterprise-critical technologies, including Azure Virtual Desktop (VDI) Host Pools, Azure SQL, Group Policy, and BigFix for secure patching and software deployment.
- Maintain cloud-first solutions leveraging Azure File Services, Azure Backup, Azure Storage Infrastructure to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Drive endpoint security and compliance through advanced management of Sophos Central and integration of security policies across server environments using GPOs.
- Implement and monitor backup strategies using Veeam and Azure Backup, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal downtime.
- Collaborate on virtualization and infrastructure initiatives, including Hyper-V, VMware and Nutanix to support scalable enterprise workloads.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across hybrid environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization on Windows servers, Virtualized environments, cloud environments, SANs and related infrastructure.
- Responsible for documenting and maintaining the configuration of all server systems.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and support Microsoft infrastructure including Print Services, AD, DHCP, DNS and AD Connect.
- Provide excellent customer service, keeping stakeholders informed and establish service level expectations.
- Thoroughly document incident descriptions, activities, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
- Mentor team members and champion best practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Travel to job site locations.

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or another related field.
- Additional experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
- Four (4) years of hands-on experience administering Windows server systems and enterprise infrastructure.
- Three (3) years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), including migration, deployment, and administration.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, web servers, DNS, DHCP, NFS, CIFS, LDAP, Active Directory, file security and other related data center technologies.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Current Azure, or similar, certification is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
