Join our outstanding Operating Room team at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, the largest hospital in Wisconsin, known for its innovative care for patients across the state and beyond. As a nationally recognized healthcare provider, we offer a supportive environment for surgical technologists like you. You will make a significant impact in the Operating Room, applying your skills in a high-paced and rewarding setting.

Schedule/Hours:
This is a full-time position with evening shifts available, including 8 or 10-hour shifts, primarily Monday through Friday. Call duty is required, typically including overnight slots and 1-2 weekend call slots every 8 weeks. On-call staff must arrive within 30 minutes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient area for optimal patient care.
  • Utilize aseptic surgical techniques in the preparation of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with various surgical procedures as a Second Assistant when necessary.
  • Ensure environmental disinfection and the efficient setup of the operating room.
  • Transport patients, equipment, and supplies, adhering to safety standards.
  • Perform patient positioning and lifting duties in accordance with best practices.
  • Support the team by notifying staff of equipment and supply issues.

Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved Surgical Technology program.
  • No previous experience is necessary.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques and operating room equipment.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements:
The position demands the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and encompass the following physical abilities:

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Carrying up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Push/pull up to 30 lbs. of force.
  • Frequent movement including standing, walking, and bending during shifts.
  • Exposure to various medical hazards; wearing protective gear is mandatory.
