Principal Engineer - direct hire

Seattle (Onsite) downtown

Compensation: $220-250k, DOE

Our client is seeking a seasoned Principal Engineer to lead backend architecture and drive engineering excellence across their software platforms. This is a pivotal role that will serve as the technical right hand to the CTO, shaping the future of their web and AI products. R are opportunity to join a high-impact team and shape the technical foundation of a growing organization.

What You'll Do
  • Architect and lead backend systems across multiple product lines
  • Mentor senior engineers and elevate engineering hygiene across the team
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
  • Influence organizational practices with tact and precision, knowing when to push and when to guide
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 12+ years building large-scale cloud services
  • Deep experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Strong command of relational databases, NoSQL, and queuing systems
  • Skilled in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in one or more languages: Java, C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, Golang, Python
  • Proven ability to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions
  • Demonstrated success in drafting and executing technical strategies
  • Exceptional communicator and decision-maker with a high bar for quality
  • Collaborative leader who thrives in ambiguity and drives cross-functional initiatives
Bonus Skills
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
  • Familiarity with AI infrastructure and pipeline development
