Position Description

  • Considerable knowledge of the enterprise master patient index and medical record format and contents; ability to search databases and use critical thinking to discern correct patient clinical and demographic information in accordance with established procedures; ability to utilize computer system and various computer applications; ability to complete work assignments in an accurate and timely manner and escalate issues as needed;
  • Monitors Interface, Overlay, Merge, Incoming Messages and other Data Integrity Work queues to ensure compliance with threshold established by department leadership.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolves interface errors, including those caused by scanning and indexing issues, as well as mismatched data in interface messages from other agencies.
  • Provides for ongoing data integrity of the enterprise MPI using established mechanisms to identify, investigate, resolve and prevent duplicate medical record numbers and patient overlays, assuring that for each patient there is one record with the correct identifying information to support patient care and patient safety.
  • Assist patients and their families in obtaining proxy access to the patient’s MyChart account. Support families and/or their legally authorized representatives in navigating the medical record amendment request process, ensuring compliance with established policies and regulations.
  • Assist patients and their families request to amend their medical records
  • Must have experience with Epic and OnBase
    • Experience with Axium is a plus but not required
  • Will be responsible for performing resolution of MPI (Master Patient Index) duplicates/overlay errors
  • Will perform investigations of errors/interface errors
  • Will perform amendment requests
  • Associates degree and/or RHIA are preferred
    • Experience is everything, if they’ve been in this field for years but do not have a degree or credential, still make the pass
  • Must have excellent communication, logical thinking skills, and attention to detail
