Director of Infection Prevention

Salary: min $100- mid $115- max $125
Job Summary and Qualifications:
- Coordinates the overall Infection Prevention and Control Program including surveillance, education, consultation, reporting and regulatory preparedness. Collaborates with the Employee Health Nurse in development and delivery of the Employee Health Program including assessment and treatment of employee injuries/illnesses, post offer screenings, occupational testing and surveillance programs and develops educational programs related to employee health and safety. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality healthcare. Educates employees, physicians and the community on Infection Prevention and Control principles.
- You will develop, implement, and enforce Infection Control/Employee Health policies and procedures.
- You will promote interdisciplinary approach for the identification, tracking and resolution of infection control and employee health issues.
- You will develop and maintain quality improvement plans and outcomes for infection control and employee health.
- You will develop and implement employee health program that includes pre-employment requirements, annual requirements/ updates, inoculations against epidemics, employee clearance to work post medical leave, and intervention for employees become ill or injured while on duty.
- You will demonstrate knowledge in occupational health and safety regulations and requirements.
- You will demonstrate knowledge and application of Patient Care Standards, Standards of practice, regulatory agency standards, and institutional policies and procedures.
- You will have knowledge of the basic infection control principles, including asepsis, epidemiology and principles of sterilization, disinfection and sanitation.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of the cause and control of communicable diseases.
- You will demonstrate knowledge of therapeutic and diagnostic measures, equipment and procedures used in patient care as they relate to infection control.
- You will act as a resource to hospital, medical staff and community for Infection Control issues.
- You will participate in orientation of new employees, as well as, continuing education programs and in-services.
- BSN required
- Master's Degree preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Registered Nurse
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is suggested as employee becomes eligible to test for it after 2 years active experience. Preferred
- 2 years' experience in acute care setting.
- Previous Infection Control/Employee Health is preferred
- Leadership experience required
- Will hold other Directors accountable for IP policies, procedures
- FTE: 1 - team consists of this Director & an IP RN
- Covering whole facility
- Shift: Full Time, No Weekends (24hr responsibility due to Director role)
