Job Description:

About the Role:
The Peer Support Specialist provides person-centered support services that promote recovery, resilience, and wellness for adults receiving services through MaineGeneral's Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program. This role is a key part of a multidisciplinary team, including case managers, mental health nurse practitioners, nurses, employment specialists, and more.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide mentorship and education related to wellness and recovery
  • Help individuals identify needs and connect with appropriate services and supports
  • Collaborate with ACT team members to support treatment goals
  • Educate patients and staff about peer support and recovery-oriented services
  • Accurately document interactions and interventions in accordance with healthcare standards
What We're Looking For:
  • Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) preferred at time of hire
  • CIPSS certification required within 12 months of hire
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record required
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • A passion for supporting others in their recovery journey
