Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
  • Assist with gowning, gloving, draping the surgical area, and passing instruments to surgeons.
  • Ensure the safety and efficiency of the operating room by setting up and returning equipment.
  • Function as a Second Assistant as needed.
  • Notify staff of equipment and supply issues, ensuring the availability and completeness of specialty carts.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred within 6 months of hire.
  • No prior surgical experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment.
  • Capable of operating equipment and withstanding a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be prepared to handle exposure to various hazards in the operating room.
