Position Overview

A Technician Apprentice will undergo training to become a skilled auto glass technician. Upon finishing our training program, you will receive the Safelite SafeTech certification and acquire the essential skills for independent work in glass repair, replacement, and recalibration. We expect our trainees to embrace the Safelite Spirit, exhibiting a positive attitude, a caring demeanor, and a commitment to customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on and classroom training to learn the Safelite Way.
  • Observe and aid in the installation and repair of auto glass.
  • Recalibrate automotive safety systems and perform diagnostic testing.
  • Provide additional products and services.
  • Complete required studies and pass assessments to become a certified Safelite Technician.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and utilize provided tools and chemicals throughout the workday.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Adhere to all company policies and standards.

What We Offer You

  • Competitive weekly pay starting at $19.25/hour, increasing to $22.75/hour post-training and certification.
  • Earnings of $5 for each set of wiper blades added for customer safety.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and any additional licenses as required by federal, state, and local laws.

Experience Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Skills and Abilities

  • Regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods and work in tight spaces.
  • Safely and effectively use various hand tools and power tools.
  • Operate a motor vehicle in compliance with all applicable laws and be monitored via in-cab safety technology.
  • Maintain professionalism and a passion for outstanding customer service.
  • Work comfortably outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Handle chemicals safely as per Safelite's standards.
  • Work flexible hours to meet customer needs.
  • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and collaborate with others.
  • Read, write, and interpret English and technical instructions.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Uphold a professional appearance by adhering to the company dress code and PPE policies.
  • Maintain stable performance under pressure, including time-sensitive situations.
