Ready to join? We are looking for a Collections Specialist to join our team. This position will work specifically with workers' compensation, motor vehicle, and personal injuries collections, and direct experience is highly preferred. The ideal candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Candidate must be flexible to travel to the corporate office located in Westchester, IL. The position will be remote following training completion onsite.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Answer incoming calls into call center and assist patients/insurance companies with account questions in a courteous and timely manner. Ensure patient/insurance companies understand the billing statements and processes to provide the highest level of customer care.
  • Facilitate follow-up communications with insurance companies and patients regarding claim/payment status through practice management system and reporting tools.
  • Document all actions and maintain a permanent record of patient accounts to ensure sufficient audit trail
  • Review and adjust balances according to fee schedules and management/MD requests, able to verify that claims have been processed correctly by the insurance plan.
  • Research and obtain necessary documentation for insurance companies to process outstanding claims.
  • Identify denials and appeal with proper documentation within a timely manner to secure payment.
  • Answers patients' questions regarding statements and insurance coverage. Telephones or emails payers for follow up on outstanding claims.
  • Responds and handles attorney requests for bills as well as any questions regarding balances. Also negotiates setttlements as cases close.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in workers’ compensation, motor vehicle and personal injuries; preferably in an Orthopedic practice.
  • Understanding claims.
  • Experienced with patient accounting systems - Athena preferred.
  • Experience communicating and dealing with attorneys is helpful.
  • Medical terminology required for accurate claims processing.

Pay Range: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
