The Position

The Van Driver plays an essential role in providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for participants throughout the community. This individual ensures that participants are transported to and from medical appointments, day centers, and other necessary destinations with care and professionalism.

Salary and Benefits

  • Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport participants to and from medical appointments, community locations, and the day center
  • Assist participants in and out of the vehicle, ensuring comfort and safety at all times
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform regular safety checks on the interior and exterior
  • Immediately report any unusual incidents, client injuries, or vehicle accidents to the supervisor
  • Communicate effectively with the Supervisor of Drivers to meet participant needs
  • Clear snow and maintain safe access around vehicles during winter months
  • Support Day Center staff with local activities or errands as needed
  • Maintain compliance with all transportation safety standards and organizational policies
  • Must be able to pass a fit test (position may include duties requiring a sealed face mask)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License from the state of residence
  • Minimum 5 years of safe driving experience
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and complete DOT-mandated driver training
  • Physically capable of maneuvering and assisting participants using wheelchairs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with older adults in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Mandarin speaking required (not preferred)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (or valid exemption)
  • Responsible, flexible team player committed to safety and care
