Part-time Clinical Pharmacist

About this Job:
The primary focus of this role is to deliver exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients. As a Part-time Clinical Pharmacist, you will work under the supervision of experienced clinical pharmacists/managers to evaluate and interpret physician orders, dispense medications, and ensure compliance with operational procedures and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess medication orders for accuracy, and resolve any discrepancies through effective communication with physicians, clinical pharmacists, or nursing staff.
- Evaluate, compound, and verify extemporaneous products, recommending alternatives as necessary.
- Prepare IV admixtures and compound sterile products, including large volume parenteral solutions, TPN solutions, and hazardous agents.
- Respond confidently to requests for non-evaluative drug information.
- Monitor drug therapy for optimal patient outcomes, ensuring minimal adverse drug reactions, with guidance from a senior pharmacist.
- Review patient profiles to identify contraindications and assure appropriateness of drug therapies.
- Dispense controlled substances, maintaining compliance with legal and departmental inventory requirements.
- Provide technical supervision for support personnel and ensure efficiency in operations.
- Accurately enter and verify computer data for drug orders; may instruct patients and families on medication usage and potential side effects.
- Stay updated on current trends in pharmacy through literature, seminars, and required continuing education.
- Participate in departmental and hospital programs, contributing to education initiatives such as journal clubs and grand rounds.
- Adhere to departmental policies and quality standards, contributing to achieving established goals.
- Engage in community outreach efforts as needed, representing the department and hospital positively.
- Collaborate on multidisciplinary quality and service improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Doctoral degree in Pharmacy or equivalent from an accredited college.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting is required; PGY-1 residency preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Registered Pharmacist (RPH) licensure in the state of practice required upon hire.
- Board certification preferred upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills to address complex clinical and administrative challenges.
- Internal communication skills to effectively advise and collaborate with team members.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in analyzing problems and developing solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic computer proficiency is preferred.
This position offers a competitive hiring range of USD $49.32 - USD $94.70 per hour.
