The Institutional Product Group lays the groundwork for Coinbase's institutional arm, aiding thousands of large financial entities. We develop secure methods for institutions to custody their digital assets and engage with the crypto economy. Our team is dedicated to building a scalable and secure crypto platform that supports hundreds of assets and facilitates participation through staking, governance, and web3 integrations. We work on innovative technologies, robust infrastructure, and user interfaces across web and mobile, all in a rapidly evolving industry filled with opportunities for new initiatives.

The Institutional Staking Engineering team designs and maintains the systems required for the secure management of billions in staked digital assets across various blockchain networks. Staking is crucial for our Custody experience, enabling customers to earn yields on their digital assets. Our engineering team significantly contributes to securing the underlying blockchain networks by activating billions of dollars in assets for staking, which strengthens the networks against potential threats and promotes the diversity and decentralization of validators.

What you'll be doing:

• Develop new services to meet imperative product and business requirements using Golang.
• Design scalable systems to tackle unique challenges utilizing modern cloud technologies and industry best practices.
• Communicate a long-term vision for the maintenance and scalability of our backend systems and the teams that support them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to transform our product and technical vision into a concrete roadmap each quarter.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code that fulfills the needs of our customers.

What we look for in you:

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• A track record of designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with an understanding of service-oriented architecture.
• Ability to write high-quality, thoroughly tested code that meets customer needs.
• A passion for building an open financial system that brings people together.

Nice to haves:

• Experience in a rapidly growing company (from startup to mid-size).
• Familiarity with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• Knowledge of blockchain technologies (like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
• Experience in breaking down a monolithic codebase into microservices.
• Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• Experience building against high-reliability or security-focused systems.
• Understanding of crypto, including familiarity with onchain activities, interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position varies based on location and can range from $186,005 to $218,900 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase include target bonus, equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
