Coinbase is looking for Senior Backend Engineers to join our teams within the Platform Product Group. The mission of the Platform Product Group is to create a dependable, scalable, and compliant platform that enhances velocity, efficiency, and quality across the organization. You will help to create the foundational systems that multiple products and teams will utilize to provide users with a consistent and superior experience.

As an engineer at Coinbase, you'll play a crucial role in crafting the next generation of crypto-centric products and features. You'll tackle unique, large-scale, and highly complex technical problems that merge the demands of web-scale applications with blockchain technology. Your work will facilitate the creation of systems designed to make cryptocurrency widely accessible, managing real-time applications with high frequency, low latency updates, all while ensuring the security of our cloud-based, dockerized infrastructure.

• Develop new services to address critical product and business needs using Golang.
• Design scalable systems that leverage cloud technology and industry best practices to solve unique problems.
• Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our backend systems and the teams managing them.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to transform our product and technical vision into a concrete roadmap each quarter.
• Produce high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.

• You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• You’ve successfully designed, built, scaled, and maintained production services and understand service-oriented architecture.
• You consistently write high-quality, thoroughly tested code tailored to your customers’ needs.
• You are passionate about constructing an open financial system that connects people worldwide.

• You have experience navigating a company's rapid growth phase (from startup to mid-size).
• You’re familiar with growth experiments or A/B testing frameworks.
• You possess knowledge of Blockchain technology (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum).
• You’ve experience in breaking down a large monolith into microservices.
• You’ve worked with technologies like Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
• You have developed financial, highly reliable, or secure systems.
• You hold crypto-forward experience, including an understanding of on-chain activities like interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with decentralized applications or blockchain services.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position ranges as outlined below. Full-time offers from Coinbase also encompass bonuses, equity eligibility, and benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

$186,065 - $218,900 USD
