Field Service Technician

The Field Service Technician performs inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of centrifugal air compressors and related rotating equipment in shop and field settings. This role adapts to changing production schedules, responds to emergency call-ins, and works in varying environmental conditions, including extreme weather.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and reassembly of multiple-brand centrifugal air compressors, gearboxes, valves, and controllers
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on compressors and auxiliary systems
  • Travel to customer sites for installations, system evaluations, and emergency service calls, sometimes on short notice
  • Complete detailed service reports including failure analysis, parts lists, and equipment recommendations
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with centrifugal air compressors or rotating equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; proficient with hand tools and familiar with electrical and pneumatic components
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and blueprints
  • Willingness to travel frequently, work extended hours, and be away from home for days or weeks at a time
