Head of Data Management

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Head of Data Management is responsible for the build out of the data management function, including a data strategy to enable insights to better service and manage our clients. Be a part of designing the future of the firms data transformation.

Candidates must demonstrate a proven history of leading large data programs in a complex organization within a banking and wealth management environment. This individual must possess excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to reach senior business management as well as technical audiences. Additionally, the candidate would have experience with data analytics and visualization, cloud enabled environments, and be able to work independently to solve complex problems. They should be able to focus on hands-on technical delivery, yet still possess the soft skills to interact with a variety of partners.

• Assess current state data architecture, desired capabilities, and evangelizes the target state architecture;
• Build and maintain data platforms utilized to deliver information that enable customer use cases and information needs, including enterprise integration, presentation, and analytics platforms.

• Provides strategic leadership for the design, development, testing and delivery of data structures, access layers, and efficient Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) workflows.
• Leads development and execution of complex and large-scale data structures and access layers to organize, collect and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs.
• Develops baseline technology standards, tools, platforms and processes to assist users.
• Develops and engage stakeholder relationships.
• Anticipates and solves highly complex problems with detailed knowledge of various technologies and data infrastructure.
• Evaluates new ideas, methods, and commercial offerings to support the data strategy.
• Increases efficiency through both tactical and strategic technology implementations
• Accountable for the delivery of the Data Strategy, business intelligence projects that will integrate data into a centralized data environment and will include structured and unstructured data and big data concepts.
• Institutionalizes data governance that engages data owners.
• Strategizes and solves data challenges to enable a future state data driven decision making environment within the Business teams.

• Strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills; At least 5 years in a Data focused leadership position and at least 10 years within technology.
• Experience in Financial Services required; ideally focused on banking and wealth management.
• Experience in leading major information management programs in key business areas;
• Familiarity with big data solutions such as Hadoop and MapReduce.
• Experience in operationalizing data governance and data quality.
• Familiarity with the major data warehousing and big data solutions and products available in the market.
• Expertise in creating and deploying best practices and methodologies.
• Knowledge about building, managing and leading technical data/information management teams.
• Deep understanding of data modeling.
• Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts that support information management to maximize long term value and ensure effective utilization
• Ability to work collaboratively across the organization, analyzing problems, developing and implementing effective solutions in a complex and changing environment
• Expert experience implementing complex, enterprise-wide data initiatives and processing solutions.
• Proven ability to leverage multiple tools and technologies to analyze and manipulate large data sets from disparate data sources and build innovative solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
• Experience in applying data science methods to business problems
