Job Description:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join their team. This individual will be responsible for performing periodic analysis and reconciliations of various accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the general ledger and financial statements. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles.
- Record adjusting journal entries as needed and generate general ledger reports using financial systems like PeopleSoft.
- Support external and DCAA auditors by providing necessary documentation during audits.
- Prepare property tax returns and assist with tax planning related to unrelated business income.
- Reconcile various accounts including accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaid insurance, and investment accounts.
- Prepare periodic roll-forward reports for fixed assets and accounts receivable balances.
- Reconcile accounts payable, travel expenses, and other cash accounts.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure payroll data accuracy.
- Assist in preparing information for annual tax filings, including business property tax returns and federal form 990.
- Identify and resolve any issues related to the accounting reporting cycle.
- Support a variety of special projects as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of directly relevant accounting experience (public accounting experience is not required).
- A proactive and self-motivated individual with strong work ethics, attention to detail, and a focus on accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
- Experience working in a team environment, with the ability to work independently when necessary.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Working knowledge of integrated financial systems (i.e., PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Oracle, and SAP) is highly preferred
- Candidates must be a United States Citizen.
