Financial Analyst
Location: Houston, Texas - Onsite position
Type: Contract

We're actively seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our client's Program Accounting Department. This position plays a key role in preparing and reconciling monthly network payments and accruals, providing financial analysis and reporting, and supporting process improvement initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and capable of managing their workload independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly network payments and accruals to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Analyze, review, and manipulate large data sets using database and querying tools to calculate payments, accruals, and generate analytical reports.
  • Track and analyze key financial and operational metrics to identify process improvement opportunities, drive efficiencies, and reduce costs.
  • Develop and utilize financial models and analyses to support forecasting, budgeting, and decision-making processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports; research and explain budget variances.
  • Prepare and review journal entries for month-end and year-end close.
  • Prepare and distribute accurate and timely financial reports to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Review and analyze monthly invoices and accruals to ensure accuracy in financial statements and subscriber reporting, resolving any discrepancies as needed.
  • Participate in process improvement and standardization projects, identifying risk areas and recommending enhancements.
  • Review audits presented by networks and streamline research, analysis, and tracking processes.
  • Perform ad hoc financial projects and data analysis as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a related field.
  • Preferred Background: Experience in industry and/or public accounting or similar work environment.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Essbase, Oracle, and database tools such as Teradata, SQL, and Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
