We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to be responsible for design projects, developing design calculations using standard and advanced analysis (FEA) techniques, developing drawings, and developing specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design. Your work will be supporting the Oak Ridge, TN office with some travel. The base salary range for this position is $89,400 to $185,035. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, for “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Qualifications:

Sole US citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)

B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
-
8+ years of post-education experience
-
A PE or SE is required with ability to obtain a new state license as required.

Perform Engineer of Record duties as assigned
-
Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design

Experience implementing local and national code such as IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7

Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished is procedurally compliant

Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
-
Ability to use finite element software such as STAAD.pro (or equivalent)

Ability to lead a small team of engineers and designers

Competent using Microsoft Office software

Reside within a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office
Preferred qualifications:
-
Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, or MicroStation software

Experience delivering a range of projects from conceptual design through detailed design. Includes developing design calculations, numerical modeling, drawing development, specification development, and construction support

Knowledge of nuclear codes such as DOE 1020, AISC N690, and ACI 349

Work Location:
It is preferred this position be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN. There is an option for remote/hybrid work. For people within 50 miles of the Oak Ridge, TN or Denver, CO offices, a hybrid option requiring a person to be in office a minimum of 2 days per week is available. For people outside of 50 miles, a remote option with quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office is available. For hybrid and remote work, you are required to provide and work in a secured location as approved by the company within the United States due to the projects that you will be participating in.
Essential Functions:
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
