The Platform Product Group engineers are tasked with creating a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform that operates with speed, efficiency, and exceptional quality. Within this group, the Payments team is focused on developing innovative payment solutions for individual consumers and large-scale institutions within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. We are building advanced payment infrastructures, user experiences, workflows, and APIs to ensure seamless transitions from traditional currency to crypto, enhancing global financial access.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Payments team, you will design and scale systems that power essential payment services, securely onboarding customers into the crypto economy.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend and frontend payments systems and infrastructure that support various Coinbase products.
• Take accountability as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for key projects, guiding them from design to production.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to translate our vision into a clear roadmap.
• Mentor fellow team members and contribute to nurturing a strong, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues while ensuring performance, stability, reliability, and security.

• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong software engineering skills; proficient in building robust backend services and developing accessible UIs that manage real-world challenges.
• Expertise in backend technologies (e.g., Golang) and API design.
• Experience with a modern front-end stack, including JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Excellent collaboration skills with product, design, and engineering teams.
• A clear understanding of high-quality code and exemplary software engineering practices, fostering an environment for them.
• A passion for building an inclusive financial system that connects people.

• Familiarity with tools like Golang, gRPC, Docker, Kafka, AWS cloud, SnowFlake, and Databricks.
• Experience in the financial domain.
• Exposure to crypto and onchain activity, such as interacting with Ethereum addresses and engaging with dApps or blockchain services.

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, along with bonus and equity eligibility, plus comprehensive benefits (including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
