The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub, Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure). We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Payments team at Coinbase. Our team is diligently crafting innovative payment solutions aimed at empowering both individual consumers and large-scale institutions within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. We are developing state-of-the-art payment infrastructures, user experiences, workflows and APIs, to facilitate the seamless transition of traditional currency into the crypto landscape, thereby enhancing financial access.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design and scale systems that power the foundational payments services required to securely and reliably onboard our global customers into the crypto economy.

What you'll be doing:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend and frontend payments systems and infrastructure that power multiple products across Coinbase.
• Serve as the Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for key projects, driving them from design to production with high accountability.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap.
• Mentor and train other team members and contribute to building a strong, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex fullstack issues, ensuring performance, stability, reliability, and security.

What we look for in you:

• You have at least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong software engineering skills; you can build reliable backend services and ship fast, accessible UIs that handle real-world edge cases.
• Strong proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Golang) and API design.
• You have experience with modern FE stack - JavaScript/TypeScript, React.
• Strong collaboration skills with product, design, and engineering teams.
• You know what high quality code and software engineering processes look like and know how to foster an environment that creates them.
• You're passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together.

Nice to haves:

• You've worked with Golang, gRPC, Docker, Kafka, AWS cloud, SnowFlake, Databricks.
• Experience in the Financial domain.
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Pay Range: $186,065$218,900 USD
