This position requires on-site presence at the Data Center facility five days per week.

Description Summary:

The Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the electrical and mechanical systems of a new data center. This role includes managing daily operations, ensuring preventative maintenance, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. You will monitor performance metrics such as Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), ensure outstanding customer service for installations and changes, and work collaboratively with Site and Operations teams to refine procedures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing critical infrastructure in a data center that operates 24/7.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversee and manage critical electrical systems, including utility power, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, PDU systems, and power busways.
  • Oversee and manage critical mechanical systems, including computer room air conditioning units, chillers, cooling towers, and fire detection/suppression systems.
  • Supervise vendors to ensure adherence to best practices and established DC BLOX procedures.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance processes, schedules, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Data Center Site Manager to facilitate customer tours and installations to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Follow established DC BLOX policies, including change control and other best practices.
  • Maintain a state of readiness for all electrical and mechanical systems.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with critical electrical systems in a data center, including:
    • UPS systems
    • Generator systems
    • Electrical switchgear
    • Power distribution
  • Experience with critical mechanical and HVAC systems in a data center environment, including DX CRAC units.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression systems.
  • Experience monitoring critical electrical and mechanical systems and managing CT replacements.
  • Proficient in writing processes, Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Certified Electrician.
  • At least 10 years of experience across relevant skill sets.
  • Industrial HVAC technician experience preferred.
  • Chilled Water HVAC experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, comfortable engaging directly with clients.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to interact with electrical systems directly.
