Responsibilities

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The Corporate Accounting Analyst will be reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller and be a key member of the Finance Department, focus on monthly accounting and internal financial reporting activities, as well as quarterly and annual financial reporting. periodically assisting with strategic finance department and corporate initiatives, such as financial reporting, as well as periodically assisting with internal control enhancements, implementation of new accounting standards and even traditionally non-finance department activities such as legal, HR, and procurement lead activities, etc. This position will interface with external financial partners and corporate executives once fully trained and proven.

The position will focus on the following job duties on a recurring basis and develop the necessary fundamentals to take on a leadership role in the future.

Financial Reporting:

• M.C. Dean has a multi-layered, multi-divisional operational financial reporting structure internal requirement, as well as approximately 50 subsidiaries including a growing international footprint, and approximately 30 shared service centers, adding complexities to the traditional financial reporting process.

• Our objective is simplification and automation of repetitive entries, reconciliations, and reports.

• Perform intercompany eliminations., currency conversions, general ledger reconciliations, and corporate allocations, including posting of adjusting journal entries as needed.

• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Assist with annual financial statement audit and corporate tax preparation.

• Assist with corporate budgeting and forecasting processes and controls, including analyzing and reporting on budget fluctuations - revenue, overhead cost, cash flow, staffing.

• Work with internal programmers on automation of transactions, reporting, and reconciliations.

• Assist the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller with Finance department initiatives as they arise.

• This position requires coordination and communication not only within the Finance department, but more importantly with the Operating Divisions, other corporate departments, and external partners.

• Job cost and percentage of completion and job cost accounting experience is helpful but can be learned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

This position requires a B.S. in Accounting or Finance, coupled with 5+ years of experience of either working in a finance/accounting department of a medium-sized company or working in public accounting. Experience working in the finance/accounting department of a government contractor and/or experience with job cost and percentage of completion accounting are a plus.

• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Excel. Advanced excel skills are essential.

• Proven analytical abilities, including being able to analyze data and concisely communicate the summary of the results, both verbally & written.

• Communicating effectively in writing, and verbally, as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
