About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The Senior Accountant is reliable and deadline-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The individual should be organized, able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and follow up to ensure completion. The position requires excellent interpersonal communication and the ability to collaborate in a diverse environment. The Senior Accountant shows initiative and the capacity to apply knowledge to deal with accounting issues. This role is an excellent opportunity to learn the full accounting cycle for a robust nonprofit business.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage daily cash receipts.
• Create and post journal entries.
• Import payroll entries and process allocations.
• Track and analyze restricted grants and contributions activity.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analysis.
• Support budget and forecasting activities.
• Support audit activities and preparation of audited financials.
• Support tax return preparation and other compliance tasks.
• Assist with asset management, reporting, and documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and maintain accounting procedures.
• Ad Hoc reports and analysis.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience (nonprofit experience a plus).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus) and strong Excel skills.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time efficiently.
