As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will be integral to our engineering lifecycle, contributing to design, documentation, building, testing, and maintenance of the SmithRx product suite. We seek engineers who are versatile, driven, and display leadership and ownership qualities, eager to tackle new challenges and advance technology together.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining core product features using languages like Golang, JavaScript/Typescript, Node, GraphQL, and SQL while utilizing comprehensive CI/CD practices for rapid iterations.
• Collaborating with stakeholders and technical leads to comprehend functional and technical requirements for developing high-quality, scalable software.
• Providing estimates for project scope and risks by generating detailed technical design documentation.
• Applying best practices in software development, design patterns, testing, and automation tools.
• Leveraging AWS technologies, including Lambda and Fargate, to manage various job types and batch processing.
• Troubleshooting production issues, assessing impacts, and executing plans for both immediate and long-term resolutions.
• Mentoring junior team members by reviewing code and leading design discussions.
• Coordinating with senior leadership to transform technical vision into actionable quarterly roadmaps.
• Promoting a collaborative learning culture through mentorship, code reviews, and exploring new technologies.

What we are looking for:

• A BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.
• 5-8 years of software development experience with a focus on server-side applications, API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
• Experience in a high-growth startup environment is a plus.
• Proficiency in a compiled language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin is required.
• Strong expertise with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL optimization, and monitoring.
• Proven experience in designing scalable APIs and applying best practices in database design and testing.
• Familiarity with GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS platforms, Docker, and Kubernetes is advantageous.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude with a flexible and adaptable mindset.
• A disciplined approach to software design and development with the ability to work independently on features while meeting delivery milestones.
