Your Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive verification and validation audits for various forest carbon projects, adhering to programs such as the California Air Resources Board and Verified Carbon Standard.
- Engage in on-site fieldwork that includes forest inventory audits, boundary verification, and stakeholder interviews.
- Review carbon quantification data and project documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Utilize modeling tools (FVS, CBM-CFS3, Remsoft Woodstock) for project evaluation and quantification assessment.
- Execute GIS analyses and spatial modeling to support project verification and reporting.
- Draft detailed verification and validation reports in accordance with registry standards.
- Offer training and guidance to junior Forest Analysts, contributing to the development of training materials and process enhancements.
- Assist in timberland management tasks including inventory design, appraisals, and spatial analysis.
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline scheduling, resource allocation, and uphold technical quality standards.
- Represent TUV SUD with professionalism, fostering strong relationships within the forestry and carbon community.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in forestry or a closely related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in forest carbon project development or verification.
- Proficient in forest inventory measurement tools and mensuration techniques.
- Expertise in ESRI GIS software and mobile GIS platforms.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with database tools like Access and R.
- Experience with forest carbon modeling software such as FVS and CBM-CFS3.
- Ability to work safely in challenging outdoor environments and navigate using GPS and maps.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willing to obtain a Professional Forester or SAF Certified Forester credential within a year.
- Able to achieve required verifier credentials within one year.
- Capable of handling multiple complex assignments while ensuring confidentiality and producing high-quality work.

Additional Information
- This is a remote position requiring travel to project sites across the US, Mexico, Canada, and occasional international locations.
- Fieldwork may involve transportation by helicopters, ATVs, and other special vehicles.
- Expect exposure to various outdoor conditions and terrains.
- Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is necessary.
