As a Senior Data Engineer at Capital One, you will play a crucial role in leading transformative initiatives that shape our data-driven future.

What You'll Do:

  • Work collaboratively with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions using a variety of full-stack development tools and technologies.

  • Lead a team of developers with expertise in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack systems.

  • Utilize programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python along with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, and cloud-based data warehousing solutions like Redshift and Snowflake.

  • Stay current with technology trends, exploring and learning new technologies, contributing to tech communities, and mentoring fellow engineers.

  • Engage with digital product managers to deliver scalable cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys.

  • Conduct thorough unit testing and code reviews with peers to ensure high standards of code quality, performance, and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in application development (internship experience does not apply).

  • At least 2 years of experience in big data technologies.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in application development with Python, SQL, Scala, or Java.

  • 4+ years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

  • 4+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL).

  • 4+ years of experience with real-time data and streaming applications.

  • 4+ years of experience with NoSQL implementations (MongoDB, Cassandra).

  • 4+ years of data warehousing experience (Redshift or Snowflake).

  • 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux and basic shell scripting.

  • 2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices.

The salary for this role ranges from $175,800 to $220,700, depending on location.
