As a Senior Distinguished Data Engineer, you will be a key contributor at Capital One, shaping innovative solutions within our Credit Card Technology Data Engineering Team. Your work will directly influence the future of financial services as you manage and leverage vast amounts of sensitive, real-time, and batch data. Join our fast-paced, mission-driven team, responsible for everything from fraud detection models to compliance reporting.

Your role will not just involve moving data; you will architect high-availability solutions impacting millions of customer experiences and securing billions in transactions daily. Take ownership of critical data domains from end to end, collaborating cross-functionally with ML Scientists, Product Managers, and Business Analysts to address complex, high-stakes problems utilizing cutting-edge cloud technologies including Snowflake, Kafka, and AWS.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Driving awareness and adoption of modern technologies across the organization.

  • Championing a culture of engineering excellence, advocating for reusing and innersourcing solutions.
  • Communicating effectively with key stakeholders at all levels to influence organizational decisions.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor for specific technologies, shaping use cases and implementations.
  • Leading efforts to cultivate talent in the tech community by mentoring and recruiting top industry professionals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in data architecture.
  • 2+ years of experience building applications in AWS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • 9+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • 3+ years of data modeling experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with ontology standards.
  • 2+ years of experience using Python, SQL, or Scala.
  • 1+ year of experience deploying machine learning models.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing big data solutions on AWS.
