Job Summary
We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for our Day Surgery division. This is a PRN position (as needed) with varied shifts. While certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred, we will also consider grandfathered techs. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Main OR or Surgery Center are preferred. This position is based at Memorial Hermann Memorial City.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program
Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic Life Support and Certification as a Surgical Technologist by either the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- New Grad
- Surg Tech I = 1 year
- Surg Tech II = 2-4 years
- Surg Tech III = 5+ years
Principal Accountabilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in perioperative patient care and can perform independently as the first scrub in assigned specialty areas.
- Facilitates case readiness and flow to enhance overall unit operations by performing assigned duties as necessary.
- Confirms the functionality and availability of supplies, instruments, and equipment prior to surgical procedures according to the surgeon's preference card and other resources.
- Applies principles of asepsis expertly to ensure optimal patient care in the operating room.
- Commits to providing safe care for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary requirements, time, and supply use effectively.
- Fosters personal and professional growth through meeting required continuing education and skills competency, and supports departmental goals that align with organizational success. Acts as a preceptor and resource for less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences, embodying Memorial Hermann's service standards in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
