Sr. Analyst Peabody Development

We are seeking a Sr. Analyst Peabody Development. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Commercial Development this position will be responsible for providing analytical support for the evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other development opportunities in accordance with the strategic plan of the company.
Duties will include:
- Work with the Peabody Development and Strategy team to analyze the viability of strategic non-coal mining business opportunities including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and new project development which are consistent with the company's strategic objectives. Including the full deal-cycle: analysis, diligence, modeling, recommendation, deal negotiation and closing.
- Analyze various research and data sources for market information and develop recommendations that lead to viable growth opportunities for the company
- Develop and maintain project specific models (DCF, IRR, NPV) for initial and continued investment decisions
- Lead engagement with investment banks and external advisors, driving transaction analysis and managing all diligence activities end-to-end.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations and recommendations for senior management, influencing strategic decisions.
- Ownership of key departmental files and tracking documents
- Learn and understand how market and pricing dynamics, supply & demand, and other industry knowledge impacts our business lines
- Develop and maintain an accurate, up-to-date global information base on competitor companies, industry transactions, projects, mergers, and divestitures
- Own and direct cross-functional due diligence efforts, ensuring timely and accurate execution across all workstreams.
- Coordinate and prepare key areas of annual corporate strategy process - including working with other departments on timing and the review of strategy materials
- Respond to ad-hoc requests on various trends and industry dynamics
- Serve as a key advisor in shaping corporate strategy, providing insights that directly influence investment decisions and portfolio optimization.
This position is a full-time role, working from our corporate headquarters in St Louis, MO. Peabody offers flexible work policies, including hybrid office / home working arrangements.
About you:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or economics (preferably accounting and/or finance) is required
- A strong financial background which complements the technical expertise of the organization
- Has a good understanding of profit and loss and balance sheet statements are essential
- Meticulous attention to detail and aptitude for insuring work products are thoroughly vetted, sourced and data flows through all materials correctly
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis and modeling (investment banking, business development or corporate finance preferred)
- Sound economic and financial decision making
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Strong results-orientation and superior business sense, as well as a reputation of having consistent, sustained initiative
- Strong communicator, who speaks, writes and listens well. The individual must place value on sharing information and common goals, maintaining an environment of honesty, openness and energetic communication
- Ability to adapt to diverse situations and multitask
- Proactive in solving problems. An individual who understands there will be problems and has the ability to independently and logically and facilitates resolution
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality of potential transactions
- Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing
- Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment
- Must be able to use a computer
- Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Target salary range for this role is $99,000 to $123,000
