Join our dynamic Leidos Transportation Solutions (TS) Growth Office and Business Development (BD) team as we seek an experienced Business Development professional with extensive knowledge of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and related Air Traffic Management technologies.
This position is pivotal for driving business growth and expanding our presence in Air Traffic Management (ATM) and associated domestic markets. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing a robust pipeline and conducting market research.
- Formulating strategies and managing relationships.
- Assessing bid qualifications and gathering competitive intelligence.
- Supporting capture management and proposal activities.
- Leading account management for existing Leidos TS programs with the FAA.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a highly visible and strategic team. Our Transportation Solutions group consists of over 1500 professionals, recognized as the leading provider of ATM automation solutions for the FAA, with a rich history of successful programs spanning over 65 years. Beyond the primary focus of this role, you will gain exposure to various customers, markets, and technologies across Leidos.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand FAA customer requirements, challenges, and needs throughout the pursuit and capture phases.
- Build and nurture the opportunity pipeline by identifying and qualifying new business opportunities in areas such as Air Traffic Management, Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, New Airspace Operations (including Advanced Air Mobility and Commercial Space), and other FAA solutions and services.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the FAA, fostering customer relationships and understanding their needs.
- Lead the creation and delivery of presentations, white papers, RFI responses, and other marketing materials as required.
- Engage in the complete capture process, including proposal development through activities such as opportunity gate reviews, competitive intelligence assessments, collaborative sessions, and proposal reviews.
- Contribute actively to TS strategy development, communication and marketing activities, market analysis and competitive assessments, and partnership/team efforts.
- Support internal BD operations processes to manage budgets, pipeline, and strategic planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with 15+ years of experience or a master's degree with 13+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in corporate business development and capture processes related to FAA opportunities.
- Strong knowledge and experience in air traffic management technologies and operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with external and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that encourage teamwork and collaboration.
- Energetic and competitive, with a passion for success.
- Adaptability and capacity to perform under pressure.
- A commitment to ongoing learning and personal development.
- Due to the nature of the role, U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Marketing, STEM, or related discipline.
- Experience in program execution in engineering or program management of ATM-related initiatives with the FAA or other Air Navigation Service Providers.
- Understanding of international business environments, including commercial procurements and contracts.
- Preference for candidates based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Pay Range: $154,050.00 - $278,475.00
