Pay: $37/hr. -$45/hr.
Job type: Contract - hire

Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday
Overview
The Sanitation Specialist ensures that all hygiene-related systems, equipment, processes, and personnel meet the highest standards of efficacy, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This position oversees cleaning and sanitation protocols, environmental and critical equipment monitoring, and employee training to support a safe, compliant, and quality-focused manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitization Program Leadership

Develop, update, and maintain cleaning and sanitization work instructions for production and manufacturing equipment.

Lead validation protocols for all manufacturing cleaning and sanitization processes.

Develop and manage the Site Cleaning & Sanitization (C&S) Master Plan.

Collaborate with R&D, Plant Operations, and customers to optimize cleaning and sanitization recipes.

Standardize best practices across the hygienist network.
Quality, Compliance & Technical Support

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) during internal and external audits.

Provide guidance on hygienic equipment design for product-contact surfaces.

Investigate Out-of-Specification (OOS) microbiological issues and drive corrective actions.

Configure, maintain, and optimize Clean-in-Place (CIP) recipes.

Support continuous improvement initiatives with focus on efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Monitoring Programs & Reporting

Manage monitoring programs for critical utilities and environmental controls.

Conduct quarterly trend reviews for purified water systems, compressed air, and environmental monitoring.

Prepare and execute quality reports.

Maintain and oversee the pest control program.

Perform internal audits and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field required (Chemical Engineering or Microbiology strongly preferred).

Manufacturing experience with processing equipment and chemical handling.

Production experience in a quality role.

Industrial microbiology and contamination control knowledge.

Conducting risk analysis and hazard mitigation.

Working knowledge of CGMP and ISO 9001.

Technical writing and documentation within regulated environments.

Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence.

Continuous improvement mindset and problem-solving capability.

Expertise in hygiene protocol development.

Ability to evaluate scientific data and produce clear technical documentation.

Strong regulatory knowledge (Health Canada GMPs, CFRs, ICH Guidelines).
