Pay Range: DIRECTOR, BHU - $64.76 to $103.61

Job Summary:

The Director of Behavioral Health is accountable and responsible for leading, setting strategic direction, coordinating, and supporting behavioral health services. While reporting directly to the CNO, the Director collaborates with inter professional teams across the continuum and the community to improve patient care and address social determinants of health promoting quality, cost, and effective outcomes. The Director is responsible for developing data-driven, strategic operational and implementation plans for a model of integrated behavioral health services. The Director has oversight for the behavioral health team in the process that assesses, plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates services in order to meet patient's health needs. The position has service area accountability for behavioral health services that include: behavioral health, chemical dependency, outpatient behavioral health, community partnerships and collaboration, and behavioral health integration.

Licensure and Certification:
  • Current BLS provider card required
  • Current California RN license
  • Workplace violence/de-escalation training required
Education:
  • Master's Degree required
  • Membership and/or certification in professional organization
Experience:
  • Minimum five to ten (5-10) years' experience in mental health facilities, healthcare and/or medical industry.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • State and Federal regulations, including Title 22 and all other regulatory requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; budgeting principles and procedures.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of supervisory theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods.
  • Ability to manage staff and change through collaborative and positive leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, hospital staff, physicians and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpersonal relationships which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilitates staff development.
  • Skill and knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical competence for the specific age and type of patient population served.
Physical Demands - Clerical/Administrative Patient Care:
  • Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
  • Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
  • Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
