Summary/Objective:
As the MDS Administrator, you will oversee the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring that resident assessments are completed accurately and on time in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and other payer requirements. You will work to ensure that assessments reflect the physical, mental, and psychosocial status of each resident and support optimal reimbursement for services provided.

  • Oversee and coordinate the development and completion of resident assessments (MDS) in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Lead the creation of comprehensive resident assessments and care plans as chairperson of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure the validity of Minimum Data Sets before their electronic submission.
  • Facilitate timely electronic submissions of all MDS.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of random MDS samples to verify accuracy and consistency with medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal requirements for MDS completion.
  • Calculate triggers and develop assessment protocols for initiating care plans.
  • Guarantee timely completion of MDS and accurate resident functioning identification per RAI guidelines.
  • Train nursing staff on timely and accurate clinical record documentation.
  • Generate MDS audit reports as needed and ensure corrections for Medicare and Medicaid claims errors.
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary care teams and stay up-to-date with regulatory changes.
  • Comply with applicable laws and Center's Compliance Program.
  • Attend in-service training and meetings as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the respective state licensing board.
  • Clinical experience and knowledge specific to geriatrics.
  • Demonstrated competence in PPS assessment and OBRA compliance.
  • Strong clinical assessment, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Background in post-acute care or healthcare preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with MDS software systems, strong communication skills, and an aptitude for project management are essential. Must be able to relate positively to residents, families, community members, and staff. A working knowledge of the MDS and RAI processes is required, along with an interest in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement systems.
