Join Our Team as a Surgery Oncology Physician Assistant

Embark on a rewarding career with the Allina Health Cancer Institute, a leader in comprehensive cancer care, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. We are seeking a dedicated Surgery Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic (HPB) surgery to provide exceptional inpatient and outpatient care. This full-time, Monday through Friday role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives while working within a highly respected, multidisciplinary team committed to clinical excellence and compassionate patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent outpatient care, including pre- and post-surgical assessments, patient education, and coordination of treatments.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient management.
  • Assist in the operating room with tasks such as patient prep, intraoperative assistance, and surgical closure.
  • Perform wound care, drain management, and other procedural duties as needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, interpret diagnostics, and develop treatment plans within your scope.
  • Prescribe medications, therapies, and medical equipment, ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Educate patients on managing chronic conditions and wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and hospital rounds.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • MN licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Proven experience in surgical oncology, particularly in Hepatobiliary/Pancreatic (HPB) procedures.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
  • Proficiency in ordering and interpreting diagnostics and prescribing treatments.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with inpatient and outpatient oncology care.
  • Prior involvement in OR assistance or procedural skills in wound and drain management.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and hospital protocols.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with applicable state licensure.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of surgical oncology or related specialty experience.
Other Requirements:
  • Current MN license and eligibility to obtain or maintain relevant certifications.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday through Friday.
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
