The Preparedness Team Member is vital in equipping communities with the knowledge and resources to prepare for home fires and other disasters. This position focuses on implementing preparedness programming to enhance community resilience and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support annual preparedness goals, regional disaster operations (RDO) objectives, and local preparedness initiatives by participating in meetings, projects, and activities.

Deliver preparedness programs based on training in one or more of the following

  • Home Fire Campaign - Educate households on fire safety and install smoke alarms.
  • Community Preparedness Education Programs - Provide disaster readiness training for diverse community groups.
  • Engage with community partners to strengthen relationships and expand preparedness efforts.
  • Assist with inventory management and the procurement/distribution of preparedness supplies.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow directions and execute tasks independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong adaptability, problem-solving, and negotiation skills to work effectively in changing environments.
  • Capacity to build meaningful relationships with team members, community partners, and the public.
