CONSUMER LENDING MANAGER

Provide supervision, support, and leadership to the Consumer Lending department. Responsible for analysis and evaluation of financial information, consumer lending and loan servicing reporting, related reconciliations, and third-party relationships. Acts as a senior loan underwriter. Monitors and reports Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in support of a member centric culture. Reviews, updates, creates and/or recommends lending procedures in support of current operations and in compliance to all rules, regulations, and laws. Resolves escalated issues effectively. Performs duties in compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Assists in coaching staff toward optimum performance in support of Avenir Financial's Strategic Plan, department performance goals and individual performance goals.
- Responsible for staff training and development; assists in establishing individual development plans (IDPs) in support of maintaining and increasing knowledge in the Consumer Lending team and for continuity purposes.
- Conducts routine meetings in support of department activities and sales and service goals for both direct and indirect lending channels.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels to service internal and external customers in a needs-based sales and service culture.
- Recommends progressive discipline in response to compliance and operational infractions; may deliver progressive discipline to staff.
- Assists and/or recommends hiring of staff.
- Acts as a mentor and role model.
- Build trust with staff, peers and members through tact, diplomacy and follow-through.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork, collaboration, camaraderie, professionalism and service.
- Responsible for making loan decisions in compliance with underwriting authority on all consumer loans, including but not limited to second mortgage loan products vehicle loans, unsecured loans, credit card loans, share-secured loans, among others, through direct and indirect lending channels.
- Administrates Lending 360 maintenance and oversees configuration of documents, work flow and decision manager.
- Responsible for achieving consumer loan production goals within established policies, procedures, underwriting guidelines and governing rules, regulations and laws.
- Assist lending management in improving credit quality, production and quality service to members and dealers.
- Assist with oversight of the Consumer Loan lending cycles including, but not limited to loan interviewing, underwriting, decisioning, funding and servicing, and supports the Specialized Lending Department on same as needed.
- Provides timely, service-oriented feedback to applicants and dealers regarding the status of loan requests.
- Acts as a Loan officer and in support of Board Policy as a voting Member of Credit Committee.
- Research and resolve any consumer loan servicing issues.
- Assist with quality control reviews of the consumer portfolio for accuracy, adherence to policies and procedures and compliance.
- Maintain Quality Control and Lending error reports for management distribution.
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable Credit Union policies and procedures related to Consumer Lending, safety, security, BSA, OFAC and CIP.
- Reviews, updates and/or creates procedures in support of current consumer lending operations and products and services.
- Responsible for complying with the Bank Secrecy Act policies and procedures, including attendance at annual training, as directed by the Bank Secrecy Act Officer.
- Works in the spirit of the credit union's purpose and values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Requirements, & Skills

Education/Certification
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
Four to six years' experience in a credit union and/or bank overseeing the consumer lending cycle including, but not limited to lending origination systems, lending cycles, underwriting, and funding loans, supporting procedures, and credit risk assessments. Indirect lending experience desired. Two to five years' experience supervising people and processes.
Required Knowledge
Understanding and working knowledge of tax returns, income statements, balance sheets, and cash flows. Experience with loan documents, loan origination systems, ancillary loan insurance products, lending cycles, reporting and applicable rules, regulations and laws.
Skills/Abilities
Microsoft Office including Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel. The ability to work with multiple systems, including core transaction and loan origination. Strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members., co-workers, management, and vendors. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
