TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  1. USW Union, Food Service Salary Schedule.
  2. Rate of pay is $12.48 per hour.
  3. One (1) part-time, school year position available. 20 hours per week.
  4. Start date is upon expiration of the posting deadline and in accordance with Article XIII, Section C, 2 of the USW Contract.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: This position will assist with the food service program as directed by the appropriate supervisor.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
  1. Ability to assist and take direction from the head cook with preparing food items for students
  2. Ability to follow written recipes independently and accurately
  3. Good hygiene and overall high standard of cleanliness
  4. Ability to set up designated areas for lunch service, including lunch line and dish area.
  5. Ability to use computerized cash register and make accurate change
  6. Ability to multitask (interact with students, monitor trays, and input data into computer at the same time)
  7. Ability to assist in general cleanup of the kitchen/cafeteria area including but not limited to washing and putting away all lunch dishes/pans/cooking utensils, cleaning floors, washing tables, keeping cooler/freezer clean and organized, etc
  8. Ability to work with and assist in training students with disabilities
  9. Assist with putting away and rotating stock in the cooler, freezer, and storage room
  10. Maintain confidentiality with all information pertaining to students and families
  11. Ability to have a positive attitude in working with students, parents, staff members, and community members.
  12. Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
  13. Ability to pass ServeSafe certification exam (training will be provided upon hiring)
  14. Other duties as assigned by Principal, Assistant Principal or Head Cook

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  2. Previous food service experience, experience working in a school setting is preferred
  3. Must be able to practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations demonstrated by the participation in an approved sanitation and safety course.
  4. Basic computer skills.
  5. Ability to work well with others and as a team member in a work team environment.
  6. Good oral and written communication skills required.
  7. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  8. Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
