Job Title: Project Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing

Location: Near O'Hare Airport
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Industry: Aerospace / Advanced Manufacturing
Salary: 120-125k

Our firm is currently partnering with a leading client in the aerospace machinery industry to fill an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer. The selected candidate will play a vital role in supporting engineering and quality initiatives within a precision manufacturing environment, working on advanced machinery components for aerospace and defense applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate engineering projects that align with the organization's operational and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams-including Engineering, Operations, and Quality-to drive continuous improvement and ensure process integrity.
  • Support customers through the development and implementation of optimized manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, and ensure all milestones and deliverables are achieved on time and within scope.
  • Manage relationships with sub-suppliers, ensuring adherence to customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in process flow reviews and maintain accurate system documentation to support production efficiency.
  • Identify and implement Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) opportunities in partnership with internal teams to enhance productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, risk assessments, and problem-solving activities to meet stringent aerospace standards.
  • Provide leadership and training to team members, ensuring compliance with engineering best practices and company standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (required).
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in a quality or engineering capacity within the aerospace or precision machining sector.
  • Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including 5-axis machining, EDM, and material handling systems.
  • Experience working with titanium, aluminum, nickel alloys, and stainless steel materials is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, with strong skills in planning, coordination, and communication.
  • Prior exposure to aerospace and military manufacturing standards is a significant plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and multitasking abilities with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities with the ability to train and mentor others effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
