Job Title: Director of Emergency Services Department

Location: Hopewell, Virginia

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Director of Emergency Services Department to ensure exceptional patient care and operational excellence in the Emergency Department. As the Director, you will be responsible for service, growth, development, personnel management, resource allocation, and management controls. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining consistent, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Accurately identify real and potential problems affecting the service and implement effective solutions with follow-through and communication.
  • Actively participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees, providing ongoing communication on behalf of the department.
  • Advance the patient experience agenda in the Emergency Department.
  • Coach and provide feedback to immediate subordinates, facilitating their individual development plans and documenting job performance.
  • Adhere to all Human Resource policies and effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staff.
  • Foster evidence-based employee engagement practices.
  • Build strong relationships and networks to deliver organizational and department goals.
  • Participate in employee and patient rounding, identifying and mentoring potential future leaders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
  • Master's degree in MHA, MSN, MBA, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency services.
  • Preferred experience in a leadership role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.
Licenses, Certifications, & Training:
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state of practice.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:
  • Strong knowledge of human resource management, program development, and fiscal management skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards preferred.
General Information:
  • The Emergency Department currently has 11 beds and will be expanding to 18 beds.
  • Acuity level is not high, mostly mild cases, but can be heavy as a Free-Standing Emergency Department (FSED).
  • Responsible for managing a team of 52 full-time equivalents (FTEs).
  • The FSED is located 7 miles from John Randolph Medical Center.
Compensation:
  • Base Salary: $120,000
  • Bonus Incentive: 22.5% of base salary
  • Sign-on Bonus: $10,000
  • Relocation Assistance: $10,000
