VCS Cafeteria Worker

Position Status: Part-Time
Classification: Non-exempt

SUMMARY
The VCS Cafeteria Worker provides support to the VCS Cafeteria department with specific responsibilities for preparing and serving food to students and other personnel as well as ministry-wide events while maintaining safe and sanitary conditions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares and cooks food according to recipes, production records, etc. for Victory Christian School and other events throughout the ministry.
  • Assists with catering for various ministry functions.
  • Safely and properly operate equipment found in commercial kitchens.
  • Adhere to safety practices.
  • Follow recipes (multi-step written and oral instructions).
  • Serve meals to students, staff, parents, etc. and ensures serving lines are stocked.
  • Ensure quality of prepared food based on kitchen standards and mandated health standards.
  • Maintain equipment, serving utensils, storage areas, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition.
  • Cross train in all roles of the cafeteria and fill in when needed to ensure staff coverage and smooth service.
  • Help to effectively train any volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in food service preferred.
  • Valid Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain the permit.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to Multitask
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.

  • Use legs, arms and back to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer.

  • Primarily work in controlled environment
  • Required overtime during peak periods.
