We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports is a nonprofit organization based in New York City dedicated to empowering youth through sports, mentorship, and wellness programs. Since 2010, we have provided safe, engaging, and educational athletic opportunities that build confidence, discipline, and leadership skills in young people — especially those from vulnerable backgrounds.
Position Overview
We are seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring strong governance, and supporting the sustainability and growth of our programs. Board Members serve as ambassadors for our mission and help strengthen the organization through advocacy, networking, and resource development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to advance the mission and goals of We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports.
- Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings (virtual or in-person).
- Contribute expertise in areas such as finance, law, marketing, fundraising, youth programming, or nonprofit management.
- Support fundraising efforts through personal contributions, corporate or community connections, and participation in events.
- Act as an ambassador of the organization, promoting our programs and values in the community.
- Review and help approve the annual budget and major organizational decisions.
Qualifications
- Passion for youth development, sports, and community empowerment.
- Prior experience in nonprofit governance, community leadership, or professional expertise in a relevant field preferred.
- Willingness to commit time, energy, and resources to advance the mission.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Term & Commitment
- Expected commitment of approximately 5–10 hours per month, including meetings, events, and committee work.
