Job Title:Contract Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)Location:Hartford Public Schools, Hartford, ConnecticutPosition Type:Contract (School-Year Assignment)Position Summary:The Contract Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides speech and language support services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). This role focuses on implementing therapy plans, assisting with screenings, and supporting communication development in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).Key Responsibilities:Deliver speech and language therapy sessions as directed by the supervising SLP.Implement treatment plans and document student progress accurately.Assist with speech and language screenings and data collection.Prepare therapy materials and maintain organized records.Support classroom teachers with strategies to enhance communication skills.Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families under SLP guidance.Ensure compliance with IDEA, district policies, and state regulations.Attend meetings and professional development as required by the contract.Qualifications:Education: Associate's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or completion of an approved SLPA training program.Certification: Connecticut SLPA license (or eligibility for licensure).Experience: Previous experience in a school setting preferred.Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.Contract Details:Duration: School-year contract (with potential for renewal).Schedule: Full-time or part-time based on district needs.Compensation: Competitive hourly rate

Required Qualifications

Speech/Language Pathologist Assistant, School Experience: New Grad Accepted References: 1 Reference in entire work history &bull

\tFull-Time Hours, Monday-Friday &bull

\tBachelors in Speech/Communication Sciences and Disorders or obtain a certificate (or has met educational requirements for position in state of practice) &bull

\tActive Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) license or alternate credential as required by state of practice.

Preferred Qualifications

ASHA SLPA Certification - C-SLPA •\tPrevious experience with Schools, Early Childhood, or Pediatrics preferred •\tClear, articulate communication skills •\tCompletion of a criminal record and background check
