JOB OVERVIEW Job Title: Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Physician) Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Fort Myers, FL Service Setting: Hospital Inpatient & Surgical Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: 09/22 27/2026 Clinical Shift Schedule: Mon Fri, 6:45a 5:00p On-Call Shift Schedule: Night call 4:30p 7:00a; Weekend call Fri 4:30p Mon 7:00p; M-Th night call rotation shared across surgeons Call Type: In-House + Beeper Call Ratio: Intermittent, equitable among surgeons Call Response Time: Immediate (emergent cases) COVERAGE DATES 09/22 27/2026 PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Adults and Geriatrics Admissions: Yes Rounding: Included (with APP support) Phone Consults: Yes Case Mix: Inpatient surgical cases, consults, pre & postoperative rounding, emergent OR cases FACILITY INFORMATION Specialty/Department: Cardiothoracic Surgery Specialty Backup Available: CVICU, Surgical PA, APPs Support Staff Available: APPs, PAs Reason for Coverage: Ongoing coverage need PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES Inpatient surgical cases Pre & postoperative rounding Emergent OR coverage Inpatient consults JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active Florida medical license Board: Board Eligible/Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery DEA: Active DEA Certification Certifications: As applicable (BLS, ACLS) Experience: Prior experience in cardiothoracic surgery required Other Qualifications: Must provide case logs (past 12 months only, HIPAA compliant/de-identified); NPDB report within 3 months DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform inpatient consults, surgical cases, and pre & postoperative rounding Collaborate with APPs for consult notes and progress documentation (surgeon must add and cosign) Provide weekend coverage for rounding and emergent OR cases (approx. 1 weekend/month) Participate in night
