Applications Engineer - Wiring & Systems

Industry: Motorsports

Location: Santa Clarita, CA

Compensation: $90K - $120K (weekly flat rate)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer - Wiring & Systems to support power unit, dyno, and vehicle wiring applications in high-performance motorsports. This role involves designing and installing complex wiring harnesses and looms for hybrid and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), ensuring compliance with high-voltage safety standards across systems ranging from 12V to 1000V.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Harness Design: Design and layout complete harnesses for hybrid and BEV platforms; integrate system I/O requirements; build prototypes.
  • Test Equipment Harnesses: Develop connectivity harnesses for dynamometers and test systems; support HV/LV testing for e-machines and energy storage systems; troubleshoot loom issues.
  • Applications & Installation: Install and maintain wiring systems up to 1000V; source components and protective materials; support inverters, DC-DC converters, loggers, displays, and HV safety systems.
  • General Support: Collaborate with dyno and trackside engineers; assist departments with wiring and test system needs for power units and vehicle operations.
Job Requirements

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in vehicle harness design and wiring systems.
  • Proficiency in motorsport loom design, layout, and installation, including HV systems (60V+).
  • Hands-on experience with military-spec wiring standards and specialized harness production tools.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive components, ignition systems, ECUs, and wiring architecture.
  • Skilled in project management, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical drawings accurately.
  • PC proficiency with relevant software and documentation tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
