Job Summary- The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the company's network infrastructure and Windows server systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
The Systems Administrator is responsible and accountable for:
Network Administration:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and WAPs.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network configurations for efficiency and security.
- Manage VPNs and remote access solutions to ensure secure connectivity for users.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Implement and manage server virtualization using technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware.
- Ensure system security through regular patching, updates, and compliance with best practices.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for network and server related issues, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
- Support branch offices remotely and provide on-site support as needed during travel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Develop and maintain documentation for network configurations, server setups, and procedures.
- Implement and manage backup solutions for servers and critical data.
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect organizational data and infrastructure.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices in networking and server management.
- Proactive nature with strong troubleshooting skills and a passion for technology.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a focus on Enterprise Networking and Windows Server environments.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SHCP, VPS) and security principles.
- Proficiency in Windows Server administration and Active Directory management.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V) is required.
- Familiarity with technology vendors such as SonicWall, Dell, and Microsoft 365 is required.
- Relevant certifications such as MS Certified, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, etc are preferred.
- Ability to travel primarily within the Midwest to support branch offices.
